How to Save Money on Clothes with eBay

Step
1

First, start out in the store. You'll need to know what item you are looking for, or at least your size within a brand. Memorize or write down the specifics for each item you hope to buy.

Step
2

Next, you'll need to head over to the eBay site. If you do not already have an account, you will need to create one. Directions on how to do so are located here: http://www.ehow.com/how_2031170_sign-up-ebay.html

Step
3

Type a general term, consisting of the brand and type of garment, into the search bar at the top. For example, if you are looking for an Express brand dress, that is size 10 and blue, just type "Express dress." This is important as sellers list items using various terms. It's better to start general and narrow it down.

Step
4

You should come up with quite a few results. On this screen, you will notice there is a bar of categories on the left. Begin selecting categories on the left that apply to your desired item until you have a reasonable number of search terms to browse through. Only change one at a time! Changing all of them may eliminate every option if a seller hasn't labeled as specifically as you have.

Step
5

At this point, you should be able to find your item! If not, you can either change your search terms or check back at a later
date
. Sellers post new items all the time!

Tips & Warnings

If you don't find the exact item you're looking for, check out other colors or materials. Chances are you will find something you are pleased with.

Remember that if you find a great deal, but the item was a little long in the store, you can still get it altered! You may even get a deal off the in-store price when considering the lowered price of the item and the small cost of getting items hemmed.

Be wary of pre-owned items. Though reputable sellers are likely to sell you a quality item, you can never be positive. Stick with "new" items only until you get the eBay experience down pat.
